When it comes to the spray polyurethane foam (SPF) materials that you can use to insulate your house, there are a number of different product manufacturers to choose from. But here at Vermont Foam Insulation, we trust Demilec for our open and closed cell spray foam projects. With Demilec, your home insulation upgrade will come with:
Environmentally friendly installation
Superior air sealing qualities
Reduced energy costs
Improved indoor air quality
There are a few different kinds of Demilec spray foam products we use at Vermont Foam; let’s take a look at the options available to you.
Closed Cell Insulation
Closed cell spray foam insulation is a very rigid foam with superior moisture and vapor barrier capabilities as well as a high R-value.
For homeowners most concerned about the environmental impact of their closed cell spray foam insulation, Heatlok HFO uses a hydrofluoroolefin compound to offer a global warming potential (GWP) which is 99.9% lower than traditional blowing agents that use hydrofluorocarbon.
Heatlok has an R-value of 7.4 at 1 inch, is ABAA Certified, and exceeds ASHRAE 90.1 insulation requirements.
Eco-Pur PIP/Pour-In-Place (Injection)
Eco-Pur PIP is a closed cell injection foam that expands much more slowly than spray foam. Injection foam is great for retrofits where too much pressure could blow out building and wall cavities.
Eco-Pur has an R-value of 6.5 at 1 inch, and was developed with recycled plastic, soy oil, and zero-ozone depletion blowing agents.
Open Cell Insulation
Open cell insulation comes with all of the air sealing qualities of other spray foams, but is more pliable with a higher expansion rate, more affordable, and is a superior sound barrier.
Agribalance is a high performance open cell spray foam insulation material made with 20% natural and renewable oils and contains no ozone-depleting chemicals.
With an R-value of 4.45 at 1 inch, Agribalance is a great open cell foam option for crawl spaces and an effective insulator in attics, walls, ceilings, and more.
Sealection PIP/Pour-In-Place (Injection)
Finally, Demilec’s Sealection pour-in-place injection foam can be used for existing walls and retrofit projects, designed to be injected through a serious of small drilled holes that avoids damaging the existing structure. Sealection has an R-value of 3.43 at 1 inch.
